At the foot of Burnaby Mountain, with stunning views up Indian Arm, the Braeside Residence is a uniquely modern home. Situated on a steep sloped, pie shaped lot this project was designed in collaboration with our clients and reflects their elevated yet laid back lifestyle.
The floor plan creates an open living space to maximize the incredible views beyond. One is welcomed to the home by a natural landscape of greenery and architectural concrete. The top floor features a large outdoor entertaining space which seamlessly connects to the indoors with large glass sliding doors. The top floor was designed to provide a large, open concept space for our clients to have family and friends gather. The large kitchen features an island with a waterfall edge, a hidden pantry concealed in millwork, and long windows allowing for natural light to pour in. The central 3-sided fireplace creates a sense of entry while also providing privacy from the front door in the living spaces.
This high-contrast home is complete with black and white oak-stained custom millwork, feature shiplap details, and brushed gold hardware and plumbing accents. Black accents are also carried throughout the spaces in the hardware and plumbing adding depth and character. White oak wide plank hardwood flooring and bright white walls provides a neutral backdrop for the finishing and furnishing in this light and open custom home.
The metal cladding runs up the wall and turns into the roofing, which compliments the slope of the site and opens to the 270° ocean views, all while maintaining privacy from the neighbouring properties.
